Coastal Cookies was founded by Claudia Harrington in 2005 when she began selling her home-baked cookies at The Barefoot Gourmet, a specialty food and wine shop in Nags Head, North Carolina. Formerly named Claudie's Cookies, Claudia's hand-decorated sugar cookies soon became one of the top ten selling items at The Barefoot Gourmet. For many years Claudia decorated cookies as a hobby and for making unique gifts for family and friends. As the demand for her cookies increased, Claudia began accepting private orders from event planners, caterers, etc, creating many delicious and unique designs.
Claudia's other passion is writing and publishing books designed to preserve the heritage of North Carolina's Outer Banks: www.obmaritimepress.com. She is an eleventh-generation Outer Banks native and a graduate of the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill.
